Cool Feet is a design project that concerns footwear for people who are suffering from Epidermolysis Bullosa Simplex (EBS), a painful genetic skin disorder that results in fragile skin and the formation of blisters, especially in warm and humid weather.
During this project, the focus is on designing a cooling system that can be integrated into the bottom of a shoe. This cooling system stimulates active and passive cooling making use of a combination of electronic components and motion.
The footwear is designed for cooling the feet and keeping them dry during the summer season. In this way, Cool Feet can decrease the amount of pain and complications caused by EBS. Next to this, the user can adjust the temperature of their own shoes to their own preference.
